KUMAR SANGAKKARA vs India:

Having already made it to two World T20 grand finals, Sri Lanka finally lifted the trophy on their third attempt.

One man who had been central to a lot of the side’s success has been Kumar Sangakkara, who made his international debut back in 2000.

India batted first and posted a total of 130-4 in their 20 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka were 41-2 when the wicketkeeper-batsman waltzed to the crease. What ensued was a calming and controlled innings from the veteran.

His 52* only included one six, but while it may not have been the most big-hitting of knocks, it was still a classy performance that helped his side across the line in his final ever T20 international. Finally, Sri Lanka had won their first trophy since 1996, after a number of heartbreaking runners-up finishes.
