Arda Turan speaks of Liverpool affection again

Atletico Madrid forward Arda Turan has long been known as something of a Liverpool fan and, with the Reds edging towards a stunning title triumph, the Turkey international has expressed his affection once again. This may, then, be bad news for Manchester United, who have been linked with a summer swoop for the player.

Manchester United are reported to have already made a £20 million bid to sign Turan during the summer transfer window, with the 27-year-old having impressed in an Atletico Madrid side who could complete a stunning La Liga and Champions League double this season.

But would Turan consider a move to Manchester United if it turns out the interest of David Moyes is genuine? The opportunity to secure a transfer to Old Trafford would undoubtedly be a great one, but his Liverpool connection may put paid to any potential switch.

Turan was given a Liverpool shirt when his friend and international colleague Nuri Sahi moved to Anfield, and the coveted winger has again conveyed the depth of feeling he has towards the Merseyside club.

“Yes, I have a soft spot for Liverpool,” Turan told EuroSport. “Steven Gerrard is a very special player for me. Liverpool's history, the atmosphere at Anfield is really fascinating.”
