Clint Dempsey of the Seattle Sounders is the highest earning player in the MLS and is actually being paid more than 15 of the 19 MLS clubs entire player payrolls.

Dempsey will receive an astonishing $6.695million in guaranteed compensation for this season with the Seattle Sounders.

Other former Premier League star Jermain Defoe is the third highest earning player in the MLS after joining his new club Toronto FC and being offered $6.18million for his first season. 

Whilst the player closest to Dempsey's wage bill is another Toronto star who they acquired recently Michael Bradley who was signed from Roma, he will pull in an astounding $6.5million.

Twelve players in the entire MLS make at least $1million and of those half of them are contracted to either Toronto Fc or the Los Angeles Galaxy, according to figures released by the MLS Players Union.
