Colin Kaepernick has today strongly refuted reports circulated by TMZ that he is under investigation for sexual assault.
The reports emerged yesterday, suggesting the 49ers quarterback had been questioned by the Miami police and was currently a suspect in a sexual assault case.
But the NFL star took to Twitter today to deny the story via a series messages:
"The charges made in the TMZ story and other stories I’ve seen are completely wrong. They make things up about me that never happened.
"I take great pride in who I am and what I do, but I guess sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up," wrote Kaepernick before he thanked those who had shown their support:
"I want to thank all of the people who have shared their encouraging sentiments. I assure you that your faith is not misplaced."
The story stems from an incident report filed by the Miami police in which a woman says she met Kaepernick, fellow 49er Quinton Patton, and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette on the night of April 1.
In the report the unnamed woman goes on to describe how she, and the three football stars, drank and smoked marijuana in Lockette's apartment before she ended up in a bedroom with Kaepernick.
As yet, no arrest has been made and there are currently no charges filed.
We are sure this story will run for a while longer but at present Colin Kaepernick is taking a strong stance to refute the allegations.
