Spanish scorcher nails MLS goal of the week

As soon as the ball left the foot of Colorado Rapids star Jose Mari you knew it was in. The Spaniards strike was so perfect that you can actually hear one fan scream 'Golazo' as he makes connection with the Brazuca World Cup ball.

And just a second later everybody was screaming it. The 26-year old's bending left foot shot, curved expertly past David Ousted's diving arm before crashing off the upright and into the back of the net.

The MLS newcomer scored a brace - the above being his first in the game - in the Rapids 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps, earning him team of the week honours.

The 79th minute equaliser smashed the rest of the competition, garnering 56% of the vote. Diego Chara of the Portland Timbers came in second place, his strike against Clint Dempsey's Seattle Sounders gaining 13%.

Diego Valeri and Max Urruti, who also scored for Portland, came in 3rd and 4th, with Baggio Husidic of LA Galaxy propping up the rear with 9% for his strike against Chivas USA in a 3-0 derby day victory.
