Manchester United's pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus could spell the end for Luis Nani and Ashley Young's respective spells at Old Trafford, it is claimed.
The Red Devils were linked with a swoop for the £35 million+-rated German international this weekend, with The Metro also suggesting that David Moyes could subsequently allow those two aforementioned players to leave if such a deal is agreed.
Such a move probably wouldn't surprise or indeed anger too many Manchester United fans, with both Nani and Young having abjectly failed to prove their worth at Old Trafford in recent years.
While hopes were initially high for Nani after he followed the path between Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United previously trodden by a certain Cristiano Ronaldo, his glimpses of quality have ultimately been too rare of late..
Young, meanwhile, joined the Premier League champions from top-flight rivals Aston Villa back in 2011 but has never really done enough to convince supporters of his ability during a subsequent three-year spell at the club.
24-year-old Reus - who has scored 13 goals and provided nine assists for Jurgen Klopp's men in the Bundesliga so far this season - is an extremely-talented and versatile attacking player who would certainly appear to represent a significant upgrade on both Nani and Young.
Just whether Manchester United are able to get the deal done for such a reputable target given that they will not be able to offer Reus Champions League football next season remains to be seen.
What cannot be in doubt at this stage, however, is that Moyes - providing he manages to keep hold of his job, of course - will have a number of big decisions to make on both incomings and outgoings in the transfer market this summer.
