The Bro Mans retained their World Tag Team titles on TNA IMPACT, despite losing to The Wolves via disqualification.

For the second week in succession, the defending champions attempted to extract themselves from their scheduled title defense with a forged excuse. Having last week earned a reprieve due to an injury sustained by Jesse Godderz while training, they this week claimed that Robbie E’s flight had been delayed, meaning that they would be unable to compete.

Unimpressed by their arguments, MVP decreed that the Bro Mans would defend their titles later that night, regardless of whether or not Robbie was able to make the event. He told a disgruntled Jesse that Zema Ion would instead be his tag team partner.

Sure enough, Jesse and Zema began the match. However, as the clearly superior pairing, Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards – sporting a new auburn Mohawk hairstyle – dominated the match.

Twice The Wolves came close to taking the win: hitting with a combo dive on both Jesse and Zema while on the floor, before they hit the ‘Alarm Clock’ and covered.

As referee Brian Hebner went down to make the count, he was dragged out of the ring by Robbie, who had sprinted down to ringside to intervene. An appalled Hebner immediately called for the bell and the end of the match, awarding The Wolves the win via disqualification.

However, with standard wrestling rules in place, a title match cannot be won via disqualification. The Wolves will once again be left regretting a missed opportunity as the Bro Mans retained the World Tag Team Championship.

The Bro Mans won their titles for the first time at Bound for Glory in October of last year. They were beaten by The Wolves in a TNA House Show in February, but Edwards and Richards held the belts for just seven days, with Robbie and Jesse winning back their gold in the Kaisen: Outbreak event in Japan.

The Wolves have now made three unsuccessful attempts to win back their titles, including a three-way match with the duo of Sanada and Tigre Uno in March.
