Few games in the Rugby League calendar year rival the Hull derby. With a guaranteed sell-out crowd and a certainty of super-charged emotion, this encounter rarely disappoints.
Only one point separates the two, and after two consecutive high scoring victories for both sides, this tie is set to be another show-stopper.
Home side Hull KR come off the back of a 44-6 thumping of Wakefield Wildcats in their first victory of the season, followed by a 12-25 away win over Warrington Wolves which lifted the Robins to 9th in the Super League going into Thursday's derby.
Hull FC however, sit pretty in sixth after a convincing 30-8 win over Salford City Reds. This was followed by a resounding 30-6 win over last year's League Leaders, Huddersfield Giants at the KC Stadium.
Hull FC head coach Lee Radford has been impressed with his side, in particular his front row, who. "[The front row] Were outstanding tonight and really laid a platform for us," he said after the Airlie Birds turnover of Huddersfield.
Despite, the derby taking place on the East side of the city, at Hull KR's newly named KC Lightstream Stadium, the match will certainly be an even contest (going on the two club's recent form) but Hull KR boss Craig Sandercock is more concerned about who to pick for the upcoming derby:
"At the moment we’re probably struggling to pick a side and I know that Stanley Gene is already on to me so he might make a guest appearance next week."
Of course, once the KR boss has managed to select 13 starting players, his attention will turn to tactics. However, for those who have witnessed first hand a Hull derby, form and tactics are almost irrelevant, with the game purely riding on passion, desire and who ultimately wants it more.
It is safe to say that this derby day will provide Rugby League with another thrilling encounter between these two inform sides.
