The opening of the next transfer window is now just a few shorts months away, with speculation concerning some of the world's most-talented players already gathering pace ahead of what is sure to be another furious and busy summer.

The end of the previous window - which slammed shut at the end of January - was a puzzling affair, with the drama that was predicted to unfold on deadline day never quite coming to fruition.

However, while it wasn't quite as entertaining as many expected, there were still no shortage of deals completed across the English top-flight this winter.

So with January's recruits now having had sufficient time to settle into their new surroundings, we thought we would make a judgement on five of the best and worst deals that were carried out in the Premier League.
