As Manchester United boss David Moyes looks to overhaul his underperforming squad this season, we have a look at the failing stars that are most likely to leave at the end of the season to pave way for younger and more reliable stars.

7. Ashley Young

The wideman was signed frm Aston Villa a few seasons ago but has yet to make a big impact at Old Trafford and could be moved on at the end of the season. Although it is true that he possesses a fair amount of talent, he could be sold to make way for a move for Borussia Dortmund superstar Marco Reus.

6. Tom Cleverley

The attacking midfielder has failed to show that he has what it takes to perform at the level expected of a Manchester United player. At 25-years-old he is at his peak but is yet to make the breakthrough expected of him a few years ago. He could be sold to make way for a move for Bayern Munich's Toni Kroos.

5. Alexander Buttner

The Dutchman has failed to impress since joining from Vitesse in 2012 and has made just 11 appearances. Signed as an understudy and long-term replacement for ageing left-back Patrice Evra, he has failed to show fans and the manager that he has what it takes to succeed the Frecnhman. He could be sold in the summer to pave way for a move for young Southampton and England starlet Luke Shaw.

4. Guillermo Varela

The Uruguayan was signed for £2.3 million last summer and has yet to make an appearance for the Red Devils. He signed with little to no experience having just made one appearance at former club Penarol - a 1-0 defeat. He doesn't have the quality to fill the void left by Gary Neville a few years ago and should be let go to make way for Southampton right-back Calum Chambers.

3. Rafael

Similar to Varela, the young Brazilian right-back has not shown he has got what it takes to fill Neville's role. He has a poor disciplinary record and could be shown the exit door to make way for a more reliable alternative in the summer.

2. Nani

The Portuguese winger has failed to impress this season and has been extremely inconsistent. Although he undoubtedly possesses a great amount of talent, he has been unable to show it at Old Trafford and should be allowed to leave to showcase his talents elsewhere.

1. Anderson

The Brazilian is possibly one of the worst signings that Sir Alex Feruson ever made. He does not possess the quality that is required of a player at Manchester United and should be shifted along to a different club once his loan finishes at the end of the summer.
