Manchester United will face a strong fight from Real Madrid if they want to land top summer target William Carvalho, according to reports.
The Mirror claims that David Moyes is not alone in his interest in procuring the youngster, and that Madrid are making serious moves - including having made inquiries with regards to his availability - ahead of the end of season market. Of course such news will not be welcomed in Manchester, as Carvalho has long been named as one of Moyes’ priority summer signings.
Said to have a release clause of a cool £37million, the Portuguese youngster is ranked amongst the most burgeoning talents in Europe, and was thus pinpointed as the ideal man to revamp United’s ailing midfield. However, the Mirror states that Madrid had representatives in Portugal to watch the 22-year-old over the weekend and may be ready to steal him from under the noses of rival suitors.
One would assume that Los Blancos would be the preferred destination for Carvalho, given the fact that United don’t look like they will be competing in next season’s Champions League. However the guaranteed game-time at Old Trafford may appeal to the Sporting Lisbon man, and so it is a transfer saga that will be watched with interest.
