Despite being twenty points behind Juventus in this year's Serie A, Rafa Benitez is already looking to this summer's transfer window and has expressed interest in a French trio to bolster his already formidable Napoli squad.
The former Premier League boss, who guided Liverpool to a famous Champions League win, and more recently Chelsea to Europa League glory, is aware a number of his players will be approached over the summer. However, he is already planning his reaction to possible summer exits.
After Manchester United expressed an interest in Slovakian star Marek Hamsik, according to Italian website II Matino, Benitez has turned to Ligue 1 side Lyon in an attempt to land a deal for the trio of Maxime Gonalons, Alexandre Lacazette and striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
Gomis, who is available for a free transfer, could be the perfect partner for the in-form Argentinian Gonzalo Higuain, who scored a second-half hat-trick against Lazio on Sunday to secure a 4-2 home win for Gli Azzuri.
However, the Gonalons and Lacazette deals may not be as simple for the Spanish manager, with a number of clubs interested in the French pairing. It may take a considerable investment from the Napoli owners to lure the two to the Stadio San Paolo.
