Chelsea will allow Ashley Cole and Ryan Bertrand to leave the club this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
Jose Mourinho is preparing for a revamp of the Chelsea squad this summer and is reportedly ready to axe a number of established stars in favour of younger replacements.
Not only in Mourinho looking to revamp his entire forward line, apparently willing to sell Fernando Torres, Demba Ba, Romelu Lukaku and allowing Samuel Eto'o to leave, but will also look towards his defence, particularly the left-back position.
Mourinho has been linked with a move for Southampton starlet Luke Shaw, who was exposed as a childhood Chelsea fan last season. However, interest in Shaw is hotting up and the Blues boss has highlighted other targets in case he misses out on the 18-year-old.
He has also added Sevilla's Alberto Moreno and Porto’s Alex Sandro to the shortlist but, before signing a new left-back, Mourinho must first cut some fat from the Chelsea beef.
Ashley Cole is one of the best paid defenders in the world, signing a £200,000-a-week one-year deal last year but now faces the prospect of being released by the club.
Cole has won one Premier League title, four Fa Cups and one Champions League title since joining in 2006 but has fallen out of favour thanks to fine form from Cesar Azpilicueta.
Chelsea are also willing to listen to offers for Bertrand, who has failed to convince Mourinho that he has the potential to compete in his new-look squad at Stamford Bridge.
Bertrand famously started the Champions League final for Chelsea but has yet to fulfill the promise he showed in his early days. His loan spell at Aston Villa has failed to bear fruit and will most likely leave west London on a permanent basis this summer.
