Manuel Pellegrini is hoping that Yaya Toure will return to action against Crystal Palace on April 27, reports The Daily Mirror.
Manchester City left the Premier League title race in the hands of Liverpool on Sunday when they lost at 3-2 at Anfield. The Citizens found themselves left short thanks to errors from Vincent Kompany and Joe Hart, resulting in a two-goal deficit only 26 minutes into the game.
Although City were able to battle back, Liverpool took all three points and find themselves facing the very real prospect of their title in 24 years.
The loss of Toure for Pellegrini's side in the 19th minute of the game clearly had an impact, with Liverpool going on to dominate.
The Ivorian has been a key player for Manchester City this season, scoring 21 goals - 18 of which have been in the league. His loss is a huge blow to a club who currently find themselves seven points adrift of Liverpool with only two games in hand.
In a post-match interview following that encounter, Pellegrini voiced his concern that Toure would not be available for the remainder of the season. However, he now seems optimistic that the 30-year-old will return for the fixture against Tony Pulis' Palace.
If Manchester City are to continue their title challenge then they must win their remaining fixtures. Liverpool are the in-form team and if either Chelsea or City are to snatch the title from their grasp, both teams require all of their best players fit.
