The race for the Stanley Cup begins in earnest tonight as the NHL seeks to crown it's 2014 champion.

And, as the 16 teams prepare to mount their bids for success, the latest odds have been released.

Unsurprisingly the Boston Bruins, after finishing the regular season with a league best 117 points, are backed as favorites with Bovada who give them odds of 7/2.

The St. Louis Blues (6/1) are close behind the Bruins after a strong season in the Eastern Conference with Pittsburgh Penguins (7/1) making up the top three favorites on the even of the Playoffs.

Last year's Stanley Cup winners, the Chicago Blackhawks are given odds of 8/1 to claim the trophy for the second year in succession.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the list the Dallas Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets are given long odds of 50/1 to star in their own cinderella story.

There are three games tonight:

Montreal Canadiens @ Tampa Bay Lightening

Dallas Star @ Anaheim Ducks

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Pittsburgh Penguins

The full list from Bovada can be seen here.
