Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo put his personal rivalry with Barcelona ace Lionel Messi to one side after Wednesday night's Copa del Rey final - by consoling the four-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Ronaldo missed the game through injury, but watched from the stands as Real Madrid secured a dramatic 2-1 victory thanks to Gareth Bale's brilliant solo effort in the closing stages of the match.
The Portugal captain went onto the pitch to celebrate with his victorious teammates, but also found time to go over and put an arm around Messi, who did not enjoy his best game at the Mestalla.
Messi and Ronaldo have always been billed as arch-rivals but, in truth, the two players have hardly interacted with each other over the years. Despite this, wherever they go in the world, they are regularly taunted by fans who chant the name of their so-called 'rival'.
This incident, however, shows there is a great mutual respect between the world's two best players. And perhaps a friendship could even blossom between the two, despite the fact they're very different people.
