Manchester United are so determined to prise Toni Kroos away from Bayern Munich that they are set to offer him a staggering £260,000-a-week.
Despite the German giants stating that the star midfielder is not for sale at any price, David Moyes has targeted the 24-year-old relentlessly, leading up to the summer transfer window.
United, who recently gave star Wayne Rooney a bumper £300,000 a week contract, are determined to improve next season, following a disappointing start to Moyes' United career.
However, they are still backing Moyes and feel that the decline is the result of the players, rather than the manager.
The Red Devils' currently sit in seventh place, 10 points off of the final Champions League spot with just a handful of games remaining, meaning they will any new signings will have to give up a year of Champions League football, which could prove problematic, considering Bayern Munich have already confirmed their place in the competition next year.
Despite this, the large amounts of money the United board are throwing around, in addition to United's pedigree within the footballing world, the option of joining the Manchester club would be a hard one for any player to reject.
The contract being offered to Kroos would put him in the top pay-bracket, alongside Rooney and Robin van Persie, and the offer has really given Kroos something to think about as the season comes to an end.
His current Bayern contract expires in 2015 and new terms have yet to be agreed, which could force Pep Guardiola to sell, rather than lose the player on a free transfer in a years time.
