Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer both eased through into the last 16 on the red dirt of the Principality as the Monte Carlo Masters shifted through the gears.
Eight-times champion, Rafa Nada, moved his unbeaten run on clay to 29 matches when he defeated qualifier Teymuraz Gabashvili 6/4, 6/1, despite an early break of serve.
Nadal faces clay court specialist Andreas Seppi in the last 16 after the Italian advanced with a 3 set win over Pablo Andujar.
Nadal lost the title to Djokovic in last years final after an unprecedented period of domination in the Principality that saw him lift the coveted title on 8 consecutive occasions and yesterdays win saw the Spaniard improve his record in Monaco to an incredible 49-2.
Three-times runner up, Roger Federer, had an easier day when he brushed aside Czech Radek Stepanek, 6/1, 6/2. Next up for the Swiss will be another Czech in the shape of Lukas Rosol who defeated Michael Llodra, 6/4, 6/4.
Third-seed and Australian Open champion, Stan Wawrinka, was in particularly brutal form as he powered past Croat Marin Cilic, 6/0, 6/2 in just 45 minutes. Wawrinka will face last weeks US Clay Court Championship runner up, Nicolas Almagro after his 2 set win over Nicolas Mahut.
Last weeks winner in Casablanca, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez continued his winning streak with victory over the man that has already beaten Nadal this year, Alexandr Dolgopolov.
Garcia-Lopez will look to continue his hot streak with a last 16 clash with Tomas Berdych.
Italian Fabio Fognini set up a fourth round clash with Jo-Wilfred Tsonga following his 2 set win over Roberto Bautista Agut while Tommy Robredo takes on Canadian slugger Milos Raonic after their victories over Julien Benneteau and Yen-Hsun Lu respectively.
Rising star, Grigor Dimitrov set up a testing last 16 clash with 2011 runner up David Ferrer, when he accounted for another Spaniard Albert Ramos, 4/6, 6/3, 6/4.
