TNA Impact: Round-up

Ahead of tonight’s episode of IMACT, here is a round-up of everything that’s been happening in TNA Wrestling during the last seven days:

Eric Young defeated Magnus to become the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion. Despite being on the back foot for much of the match, EY hit with a pile-driver and pinned the Brit for three, ending his Championship reign at 128 days.

At the start of last week’s edition of Impact, EY won a ten man gauntlet, intent on finding the new number one contender for TNA’s next major pay-per-view, Sacrifice, on the 27th April. But after claiming the victory, the 34-year-old demanded his title shot be moved to later that night.

The Bro Mans retained the TNA World Tag Team Championships after they controversially got themselves disqualified from their match against The Wolves, preventing the duo of Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards winning the match.

With Robbie E supposedly unavailable due to his delayed flight, Zema Ion partnered Jesse Godderz. They struggled throughout, and The Wolves were on the verge of clinching the match-winning pin, until Robbie emerged from the back and attacked referee Brian Hebner, preventing him from making a count.

Bully Ray felt the ‘Wrath of Dixie’ as TNA’s Company President made her first televised appearance since losing control of wrestling operations at Lockdown last month. In the heated exchange, Carter asked Ray why he had double crossed her, slapping him across the face. Bobby Roode emerged in an attempt to attack Bully, but was quickly chased off.

Angelina Love won the right to challenge Madison Rayne for the TNA Knockout’s Title at Sacrifice. She defeated Gail Kim, ODB and Brittany in a four-corner, number one contenders match. Her victory was mainly thanks to the interference of Velvet Sky – her partner in The Beautiful People – who sprayed Kim in the eyes with perfume, allowing Love to get the pin.

Christy Hemme and Mr. Anderson combined in an attempt to trick Samuel Shaw into leaving TNA. Hemme called out Shaw, saying she wanted to talk to him about commitment, and adding that she had undergone a change in heart about him. While the pair were talking in the ring, Anderson attacked Shaw from behind, dragging him out to the back and attempting to load him into the back of a white van. However, Shaw escaped at the last moment – sprinting away without looking back.

On tonight’s episode, we will see Willow face a handicap match against Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud. The duo combined to cost him, or rather his alter-ego Jeff Hardy, his World Title match with Magnus in December. Spud was also responsible for removing Willow from the ten man gauntlet, emerging from the back to drag him off the canvas.

Elsewhere, Eric Young will be celebrating his World Title win, and The Wolves will get another chance at those Tag Team titles. Rumours have it that Kurt Angle and Austin Aries may also be in line for a return.
