According to statistics from Opta, a record low 32.26 percent Englishmen make up the minutes played in the Premier League currently. And we wonder why we are struggling more and more for players to represent the national team?
The growing trend is for managers to look abroad for new signings. They tend to offer better value for money, and players on the continent are arguably technically better than English equivalents.
English players tend to be kicking their heels in the reserve side or find themselves shipped out on loan to lower league sides.
Of course, Arsenal aren't alone in being under represented by players from this nation, and there have been other instances where a team has fielded no English players.
