Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he is not aware of the reported interest in left-back Luke Shaw.

Reports emerged on Tuesday morning claiming that Manchester United were set to beat rivals Chelsea to the signature of Shaw, who is valued at £30m by the Saints.

So fierce was the speculation that Shaw was to become a Red Devil, further reports were claiming that Chelsea had resigned themselves to missing out on Shaw and were now looking towards other targets.

However, although the 18-year-old is believed to be high on both Jose Mourinho's and David Moyes' summer shopping list, Southampton manager Pochettino claims he has heard nothing about the interest.

He told reporters: "That's the first time I've heard about that, it's news to me.

"At the end of the day Luke Shaw is a player that belongs to Southampton, and it will be the club, Southampton, that makes the decision as to what happens with his future.

"Of course there will be interest for him, but so far right now he's a player at Southampton and it looks as though it will continue that way.

Shaw is just one of a number of stars who have been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in recent weeks. Adam Lallana is also attracting admiring glances from Old Trafford while Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin have also been mentioned in the same breath as the Premier League elite.

Pochettino admits that there is bound to be interest in his players after a stellar season but insists any bids for Saints stars will be handled by the club's owners, not him.

He continued: "There are a lot of players who are under interest at Southampton, but they are all very happy at the football club, and most of them are under long-term contracts.

"They understand the situation of what it means to be a professional player in the Premier League.

"There's nothing really we have to speak about on that front.

"If there is any decision to be made, it is for the owners, not for me."

Shaw has been impressive for Southampton this season and is an established member in the starting XI despite still being 18.

Chelsea are looking to replace Ashley Cole, 32, with the England international, who is believed to be a fan of the Blues.

Manchester United, who have as much as £200m to spend this summer, are expecting Patrice Evra to leave in the summer and see Shaw as a long-term replacement.
