The Los Angeles Lakers finished up an abysmal 2014 season last night after failing to make the playoffs for the first time in nine seasons. Lakers fans will be hoping for a rebound from the purple and gold, however much of that will rely on what Pau Gasol does this offseason.
Gasol struggled with injuries toward the end of this season and missed several games with vertigo. However, he is now a free agent and is expected to fully explore the free agent market.
There is good news for Lakers fans however according to team reporter, Mike Trudell, Gasol has a good relationship with Lakers GM and would consider a return.
"The Lakers will certainly be one of the teams Gasol considers. He has a very strong relationship with Mitch Kupchak." tweeted Trudell, but mentioned that Gasol would consider a different position in 2015:
"Gasol said he'd be more than fine playing in a smaller system (like MIA, etc.), but as the center, not the PF (power forward)."
Gasol has played most of his career as a forward but with more of the championship contenders such as, Miami Heat, employing a smaller system that may be something to consider for the purple and gold in 2015.
