The Los Angeles Clippers match up with the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs is already an exciting affair but Klay Thompson may have added fuel to the fire with his recent comments about Blake Griffin.
These two teams already have an odious history and there is an unpleasant underlying tone surrounding the opening round playoff series that these squads are about to undertake.
Shooting guard Klay Thompson of the Warriors recently spoke to a radio show in San Francisco and made some comments about the play style of Blake Griffin that may have started a public feud between the two franchises.
Thompson said on air: "plays pretty physical and flops a little bit. He flares his arm around so you know you might catch a random elbow or something that doesn't, you know, rub off too well on guys, He's kind of like a bull in a china shop, kind of out of control sometimes. And then you do just see him flop sometimes, like how can a guy that big and strong flop that much? I can see how that gets under people's skin and be frustrating to play against.
The comments were surely heard by everyone associated with the Clippers and when the team met with the media after practice, it was the first question that was posed to Griffin himself, what did he make of Thompson's comments.
Blake has matured as a player and has taken massive strides to becoming a superstar over the last season, he may matured in other ways also as the power forward seemed unwilling to be drawn into a war of words.
When asked for his reaction, Griffin responded: "This isn’t my thing, I play basketball. I don’t want to get into a back-and-forth. I think we’re ready to play. Sounds like they are too. It’s going to be exciting."
Griffin may try to ignore the comments from Thompson but the rest of the world won't as it adds more drama to an already exciting series.
