The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) have today announced the nominees for this year's Premier League Young Player of the Year award, set to be handed to the best individual under the age of 24 at the start of 2013/14.
Six players made the shortlist with representatives from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton and Southampton ready to go head-to-head for one of the most prestigious individual accolades in England's top-flight.
Gareth Bale won the Young Player of the Year award last year - alongside the senior Player of the Year trophy - to cap a fantastic final season at Tottenham, prior to his world-record £86million transfer to Real Madrid last summer.
Previous winners over the past five years also include Kyle Walker, Jack Wilshere, James Milner and Ashley Young, whilst the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are other notable recipients in the Premier League this past decade.
This year's contenders will each be hoping to emulate the aforementioned stars, following on from their impressive showings this campaign, with the winner set to be announced on April 27 at an awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London.
