Manchester United ace ruled out of Everton encounter

Manchester United defender Rafael has been ruled out of his side’s weekend clash against Everton.

The Brazilian defender has been forced into sitting out Manchester United’s last three fixtures due to a thigh problem.

Rafael’s last appearance for the Premier League champions came in the Red Devils’ comfortable 4-1 win against Aston Villa on March 29.

The 23-year-old was substituted during the interval in the aforementioned fixture and has not taken to the field ever since picking up the leg injury.

Phil Jones has had to again change position from centre-back to right-back in Rafael’s absence as David Moyes does not have another senior orthodox right-sided full-back at his disposal.

Moyes, speaking in the build up to Manchester United’s encounter against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, did not state how long the tough-tackling defender would be out for.

The Scotsman also revealed Robin van Persie would miss Manchester United’s match against the Toffees.
