Liverpool have come as a surprise for many this season; even some of their own fans. The squad have been unified, and the Anfield faithful have grown in confidence each week with the increasing likelihood of Premier League going to Merseyside.
Liverpool have had a number of key performers who have contributed towards the triumph of this campaign. But Luis Suarez has been head and shoulders above any player, throughout the entire division. Yet this season: his talent on the pitch hasn't been over shadowed by his moments of pure lunacy.
If Liverpool can retain his services it would put them in an enviable position for next season. But it will come at a struggle. The 27 year-old has scored a hatful goals, and has shown a capability to entice fans; that's something the Premier League as a whole should relish, and want to keep; but the interest in the top goal scorer isn't going to be short.
It's becoming routine for La Liga to purchase the Premier League's top players, every season; and we will soon lose the right to say we own the chief division in the world.
If we continue to fall victim to the Madrid, Barcelona, and potentially Bayern, who are seeking a striker, we will fail to attract the stars into the division; and the league could spiral out of the class we currently posses.
Even if you're not a fan of the Merseyside club, you should secretly be satisfied if the club can keep hold of this season's leading performer; which would demonstrate that the leading English league isn't on the slide.
Any deal for Suarez would be a mammoth operation; the striker could leave for a record breaking fee.
For supporters, outside of Liverpool we should appreciate his expertise. We must put our bias to one side and understand the possession of the South American can benefit our division, and potentially our own clubs.
