Arsenal have edged closer to signing a man many deem to be the long-term replacement for Bacary Sagna, after it has emerged that Arsene Wenger has opened transfer talks with Toulouse full-back Serge Aurier.
According to the Metro the Gunners boss held talks with the player this week over a potential summer move, and negotiations are going smoothly. It’s said that Wenger sat down with the player’s representatives for two hours to mull over the prospect of a switch to the Emirates, and with a valuation of £10million it would appear that there isn’t much stopping the deal from being made.
According to the same report Manchester City, Juventus and Roma are all also interested in Aurier, which is why Wenger has acted well in advance of the summer transfer window in order to put his club at the front of the queue.
Of course the 23-year-old, who happens to be regarded as one of France’s top upcoming talents, is just one of a host of potential right-backs Arsenal could sign at the end of the season, although they may choose to keep faith with Sagna if he pledges his future to the team.
