Published 1 Comments

Moves made by players between rival clubs aren’t all that uncommon in the grand scheme of the footballing world.

The likes of Luis Figo and Sol Campbell, as well as more recent examples such as Robin van Persie and Juan Mata, are proof that the bonds of loyalty between a star player and his club aren’t always unbreakably solid. And so it’s with a twist of irony - and most probably a sneer from the heartbroken fans - that certain players never really enjoy the pastures new as much as they might have expected.

Switching allegiances between fearsome rivals is always a gamble, and you risk an incredible amount of egg to the face if things aren’t all fine and dandy at the new club.

With a number of players currently staving off the advances of that exact situation, we’ve compiled a list of eight of the world’s most talented footballers who may well be regretting the big moves they made not too long ago.

You’ve got to feel for them, unless of course you’re a supporter of the club they left. In that case hold your head high and laugh… a lot. Click on to see who makes our cut.
