6: Erik Lamela | AS Roma to Tottenham
There simply isn't any viable silver lining to this transfer, despite the fact that when Erik Lamela moved to White Hart Lane it was under the promise that Tottenham would probably be competing for the league under Andre Villas-Boas.
Not only was Villas-Boas given his marching orders from the position fairly early on in the season, but the Argentinian winger - signed for a club record £30million fee - has looked somewhat out of his depth when charged with giving Premier League full-backs the run around. To top it all off he's had to compete with injuries, the English media grilling him routinely and of course the fact that Spurs are experiencing a dreadful campaign in the league.
Though there's every chance Lamela could be boosted once he's had a full and proper pre-season this summer, for the moment there can't be anything in his head telling him he made a good decision to swap sunny Italy for the gloom of north London.
