Liverpool are said to be hopeful of landing Barcelona star Cristian Tello, so long as the Catalans manage to overturn the UEFA ban which prohibits them from doing business.
The Mirror reports that Brendan Rodgers and the powers that be at Anfield believe they can finally sign the young Spanish prodigy, with £12million expected to be enough to convince his current owners to play ball regarding the transfer. Barca have vowed to appeal against the ban imposed on them by UEFA which restricts them from buying or selling players for the next two transfer windows, and if they are successful reports claim that Tello could well be on his way to Merseyside.
Though once-rated as one of Barcelona’s top prospects, Tello has struggled to make an impact in the first-team, and rarely gets game-time ahead of the likes of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Pedro. As such the 22-year-old may well be willing to depart the Nou Camp, particular if Rodgers can navigate his Liverpool side to the Premier League title.
There’s no doubting that the youngster would improve the Reds’ attacking line-up, but the move all hinges on whether or not Barca can successfully argue their case against UEFA.
