To say that Norwich-born Paige can transform the face of WWE Divas single-handedly would be questionable. She can however, be the stepping stone this area of the industry needs.

Following a brief and ultimately uneventful Vicky Guerrero Divas Invitational Championship match at WrestleMania XXX, AJ Lee had her 295-day reign as Champ ended by 21-year-old British Diva Paige the following night on Raw.

Since then it has been announced that AJ is taking an extended leave of absence from WWE, which given her reign as Divas Champion was the longest in history, is understandable that she is due some time to rest.

Couple this with her recent engagement to CM Punk, who recently walked out on WWE, and it comes as no surprise that now is the time she has chosen to take a break from the industry.

At the upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view event in May, Paige has been billed against AJ's bodyguard Tamina Snuka, reiterating the point that AJ won't be returning anytime soon.

Ultimately Paige has already been given a massive boost on the roster, having become the only Diva who could become Champion on her WWE debut.

Also, being so young and having so much experience with NXT and through her wrestling family, it will be interesting to see how far she can go as one of the biggest names in WWE Divas.

To be on the same level of the likes of legends such as Lita and Trish Stratus though, she would need a lot of help and competition. Given the massive storylines and the fact there are several big names in the male half of the industry, it may be that now is not the right time for WWE Divas to come to the fore as has been the case previously.

Having said that, Lita admitted recently that she would not rule out a return to the ring, and to see her face Paige would undoubtedly be an enormous turning point for the Divas if it ever came to fruition.
