Manchester United have made Jurgen Klopp their top choice to replace David Moyes, reports Goal.com.

Reports surfaced on Monday afternoon that Old Trafford officials have finally decided to sack Moyes after a disastrous first season in charge.

Moyes was hand-picked by the outgoing Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United have been keen to stick my his decision for as long as possible. But Sunday's 2-0 loss to Everton was the final straw for owners the Glazer family and the decision has been made.

Manchester United will sack Moyes in the coming weeks and reports suggest he could even be gone by the end of today (Monday). With a crucial summer ahead, the Glazer family are keen to get a manager installed as soon as possible.

Klopp has impressed since taking charge of Borussia Dortmund and is currently one of the most sought-after managers in the world. He initial held reservations about taking over at Manchester United, but has since had his head turned by the chance to take over one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Meetings were held between Manchester United and Louis van Gaal, but the club were left concerned by the Dutch manager's dictatorial style.

Goal believe Moyes will be gone before Saturday's game against Norwich and Ryan Giggs is likely to take charge for the rest of the season.

While Giggs would be a popular choice amongst Manchester United fans, his lack of experience leads him an unlikely long-term option.

Klopp, on the other hand, built Dortmund back up from financial ruin to win back-to-back Bundesliga titles and only narrowly missed out on a Champions League trophy.

The German is contract to Dortmund until 2018 but Manchester United believe a £200m transfer kitty plus the prestige of the club can turn the manager's head.
