Paul Scholes could seal a return to Manchester United

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes could be offered a chance to return to Old Trafford following the dismissal of David Moyes, according to the Daily Mail.

Scholes was supposed to take up a coaching role at Manchester United after hanging up his boots at the end of last season, however the 39-year-old refused to join Moyes' coaching staff after being approached by the Scotsman.

Moyes' sacking after just nine months at the helm of the club could open up the possibility of Scholes sealing a return to the north-west outfit.

Scholes has been helping Nicky Butt coach the reserve team but has not officially signed a permanent coaching deal at Old Trafford.

The Class of 92 star could be tempted into making a U-turn in the next few months if the new manager makes Scholes feel welcomed at Old Trafford.

Scholes could even be brought in to assist former teammate Ryan Giggs in the final few games of the season - alongside both Manchester United first-team coach Phil Neville and Butt.
