It is well documented that Barcelona have been hit with a transfer ban that prevents them from signing any players for the next two transfer windows.
It also hinders Barcelona in the sense that they now can not sell any fringe players because they will not be able to sign anyone to replace them. Players like Javier Mascherano and AlexSong will have to continue playing at Barcelona for the meantime at least.
However, Barcelona are quietly confident that it will be possible for this ban to be overturned if they appeal. Barcelona were shocked that this ban was forced upon them and ruined their plans for the summer.
It is no surprise to say that Barcelona will still be planning for the summer window, which shows the confidence they possess towards this particular problem.
One name that Barcelona have continued to be linked with is Chelsea's David Luiz. There was an official bid made by the La Liga outfit in the summer transfer window, but Luiz himself claimed he turned down the move, and Mourinho also said that the versatile Brazilian is not for sale.
All of that was before the season even started, and now after seeing how little Luiz has been used by Mourinho at centre back, Luiz may seek to leave Chelsea in order to play his favoured position. Luiz has been utilised in the big matches in front of the back four to provide defensive stability, and has excelled in that role.
Barcelona will hope to sign Luiz along with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who will replace Valdes for next season.
Before all of that though, Barcelona have a ban to appeal, which will be a long process.
