NFL legend, Shawne Merriman is yet to make his professional wresteling bow but already he is making waves in the WWE universe.

The former linebacker took to twitter today to cast doubts over WWE champion, Daniel Bryan's ability to continue taking punishing injuries in the long term.

Merriman tweeted: "I know @WWEDanielBryan is tough but I don't know how much longer he'll be able to sustain these injuries"

Bryan recently became the WWE World Champion with two epic victories at Wrestlemania XXX despite suffering from a severe shoulder injury.

Merriman was speaking in the aftermath of RAW where Bryan was on the other end of three 'Tomb-Stone' manoeuvres from Kane.

It is thought that Bryan will return in time to face Kane again at Extreme Rules but, should he sustain further injury, Bryan's longevity in WWE could be in doubt.

Former NFL player Merriman, retired in 2012 after seven years in the league as a linebacker and defensive end. He recorded 257 tackles and over 45 sacks during his career.

After Wrestlemania XXX, it was announced that Merriman would join the WWE universe.
