Dutch boss Louis van Gaal becomes a free agent this summer and Manchester United's representatives have already reportedly met with him as they plan to fill the void left by the sacking of David Moyes.
According to Mirror Sport, United representatives met with the Holland manager within the last 48 hours and the Dutchman has been labelled a favourite for succeeding Moyes after news sounded this morning that the Scotsman had been relieved of his duties.
Furthermore, the arrival of Van Gaal at Manchester United could mean big players such as Robin van Persie would be more willing to stay at Old Trafford. Former Nottingham Forest striker, Pierre van believed that the only way United can secure van Persie's future at Old Trafford is to bring the Dutch manager to England.
The Dutch man has also been approached by Tottenham, but had allegedly been reluctant to give the London team an answer because of the vacancy at Old Trafford.
Van Hooijdonk explained that: "Louis will bring in a number of top players and he will create a whole new team for United, which we can see, is necessary."
