As David Moyes' exit from Manchester United was confirmed, the club announced that Ryan Giggs would be put in charge "until a permanent appointment can be made."
Some fans are already saying that the club legend should be given the job on a full-time basis, as he understands how the club works after his 27-year association with the club.
It would be surprising if United were to appoint the Welshman on a permanent basis, as they are likely to opt for a more experienced pair of hands given the lack of success under the relatively inexperienced (at that level) Moyes.
Though United fans backing Giggs to be the next man to sit in the dugout should be wary. Great players don't always make great managers, and some of the most successful managers - Jose Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson for example - had less than memorable playing careers.
