Batista is reportedly set to take some time off from the WWE after the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event, reports wrestlezone.com.

According to PWInsider, Batista - who only returned to the WWE Universe at the end of last year - won't take part in events after the pay-per-view on May 4.

The Animal hasn't been advertised for any future events - including the Raw that will follow Extreme Rules.

Batista has featured heavily in the ring in recent time, and was the winner of the Royal Rumble earlier this year.

That led to him taking part in the main event at WrestleMania, where fans' favourite Daniel Bryan won the World Heavyweight Title.

In the coming weeks, Batista will still have a key role to play in the company, as he's currently involved in a feud with The Shield.

The superstar is part of The Evolution and will take on the likes of Roman Reigns and Co. at Extreme Rules in a six man tag-team match.
