Manchester United target Van Gaal is not arrogant - Vorm

Swansea City goalkeeper Michel Vorm has backed Louis van Gaal to become an instant hit in the Premier League if he takes up the reins at Manchester United.

Van Gaal is the leading candidate to replace David Moyes at the helm of Old Trafford as the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have ruled out the possibility of moving to the Premier League champions.

Netherlands manager Van Gaal has been described as arrogant by certain sections of the media since he has been linked with the Manchester United role, however Vorm has dismissed claims his national team boss is uneasy to work with.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Vorm said on Van Gaal: “He’s not arrogant. He knows what he wants and how he wants to do it.

“He’s very assertive in the way he works, but he’s shown over the years that it does work. He’s very confident.

“He plays very attractive football though. That’s what he’s all about. He always wants to play the ‘Dutch way’. If he gets the job they will definitely play attacking football.”

Vorm also revealed how Manchester United star Van Persie and Van Gaal share a close-knit relationship.

“They get on fine,” added the 30-year-old Swansea shot stopper. “Robin became captain under Van Gaal with the national team. They have a good relationship.”

Vorm is expected to be included in Van Gaal's 23-man squad for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil before the 62-year-old Dutch coach hands over the reins to fellow countryman Guus Hiddink.

Van Gaal is currently the odds-on favourite to become the next permanent manager of Manchester United at 4/6 with SkyBet.
