With the NFL draft still a couple of weeks away, prospects are in a strange limbo having left behind the confines of college football in pursuit of the pro leagues.
So with a lot of spare time and no NFL workout schedules to fulfil just yet, how exactly do they pass the days?
Well for former Clemson quarterback, Tajh Boyd it looks like he likes to indulge in his geek side - with Pokemon clearly his achilles heel.
The draft prospect today took to Twitter in search of the classic game for his gameboy color and seemed pretty desperate to get his hands on a copy.
In a series of messages of the social media site Boyd had conversations with a number of prospective sellers - and he is pretty particular about what he wants in return for his money too:
"Anybody have Pokemon for Gameboy color that they're tryna sell?" the young signal-caller wrote.
He then went on to reveal that it was the "yellow" version of the game he had his heart set on, before rejecting a suggestion that he should simply play it on his phone in fear of poor battery life.
Boyd is, at the time of writing, busy in negotiations with one seller with the college star offering to "meet at tigermart at 6" so desperate is he to go in search of Pikachu and co.
With Pokemon-gate continuing to develop at pace you will have to head on over to the player's official Twitter account to keep abreast of the latest news.
But we really hope Boyd's obsession with the Nintendo series carries on into his NFL career - just think of the options at the line of scrimmage...
Peyton Manning's "Omaha" eat your heart out.
Boyd has most recently been linked to end up with the St. Louis Rams as a third round pick in this May's draft.
