Chelsea to hand Azpilicueta £70,000-a-week deal

Chelsea are set to hand full-back Cesar Azpilicueta a new £70,000-a-week deal, according to The Daily Mail

Azpilicueta, who is just 24-years-old, has had a fine season at Stamford Bridge, having replaced Ashley Cole as the club's No.1 left-back this term.

And now, the former Marseille ace looks set to be rewarded with an improved contract, with his current deal running out in 2017.

Azpilicueta, despite primarily being a right-back, has been one of Chelsea's most consistent stars in this campaign and has gained many admires for his performances this season.

He's played a key role in Chelsea's Premier League title challenge and European charge, and will now be looking to end the season on a high by picking up silverware.

However, if reports are to be believed, Chelsea are still interested in signing a new left-back this summer, with the likes of Luke Shaw, Filipe Luis and Alberto Moreno all being watched.

It appears that Chelsea are ready to tie Azpilicueta down for the long term and also increase competition for the left-back spot ahead of next season.
