Juventus have made a shock £20million move to sign Chelsea’s Brazilian midfielder Ramires, ahead of what could be a very interesting summer transfer window at Stamford Bridge.
It has already been confirmed that the 27-year-old won’t play another Premier League fixture this campaign, having accepted his four game FA ban for violent conduct after elbowing Sebastian Larsson during his side’s loss to Sunderland last weekend. However now the Express writes that this season may be his last in a Chelsea shirt, as Italian giants Juve have lodged a £20million offer to back up their interest.
Ramires’ future has been the subject of strong speculation at frequent points this year, and Real Madrid are also said to be sniffing around the prospect of signing him. Though Jose Mourinho has offered no indication that he is looking to either sell the player or replace him in the first-team, there has been talk of large-scale changes in west London, with the acquisition of a world-class forward and potentially a centre-back both high on the agenda.
That being said, with Frank Lampard today penning a one-year contract at Stamford Bridge, the surplus of midfielders will count against Ramires, and Mourinho may look to balance his books by cashing in on him whilst his value remains high.
