Manchester United interim boss Ryan Giggs is expected to recall veteran defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic for his first game in charge of the club.
The Guardian believe Giggs will call on the experiences of Ferdinand and Vidic against Norwich City on Saturday instead of plumping for a central defensive partnership of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
Former manager David Moyes has chosen to leave both Ferdinand and Vidic out in recent weeks, however Giggs believes they are still the most consistent defenders at the club.
Jones, who gave away a penalty against Everton in what proved to be Moyes' final game at the helm of Manchester United, could be shifted to right-back as Rafael is still out with a hamstring injury.
Moyes had previously said he wanted to use the final few games of the season to have a closer look at his younger defenders as Vidic is leaving at the end of the season to join Inter Milan and Ferdinand is yet to sign a new deal.
However Moyes' sacking has now given the duo the chance to impress in what could be their last four games for Manchester United.
