The sports pages offer a mixture of emotions this Saturday as the newspapers preview Ryan Giggs’ first game at the helm as Manchester United manager, while they reflect on the terribly sad passing of former Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova.

Vilanova died on Friday having fought throat cancer for over two years - a disease which resulted in him resigning from his post as Barcelona manager after one record equalling season in the position. He was just 45 and, of course, our most sincere sympathies go out to his wife and two children.

Meanwhile, at Manchester United there is an air of optimism following a dreadful season on the pitch with Giggs taking charge of the team for the remainder of the season following the sacking of David Moyes.

Giggs has promised to bring smiles back to the faces of Manchester United fans during his brief tenure before a permanent appointment is made at the end of the season. And there is plenty of news on the club’s next boss today…
