5. Wimbledon 2003
vs Mark Philippoussis
It wasn't a five setter but a 21-year-old Federer showed us a sign of things to come with a magnificent 7-6 6-2 7-6 win over his more experienced opponent.
It was the fourth seeded Swiss' first Grand Slam final appearance and he never looked overawed at the occasion. His superb performance was just the beginning of a five-year winning streak at Wimbledon.
His Australian victim had a big serve and had also featured at Grand Slam final in 1998, where he lost to Patrick Rafter at the US Open. However Federer, who had never been past the quarter-final, nullified the threat and cruised to a deserved win.
Federer only dropped one set in the whole competition, beating the likes of Andy Roddick, Feliciano Lopez and Mardy Fish along the way.
