Whether Liverpool can go on to claim the Premier League title or not, there is no doubt that they are now operating at a level above what they have produced for a number of seasons prior to this one - and it's largely down to one man.
Luis Suarez has looked a talented player from the moment he started his first game for the Anfield club, but it took him a bit of time to really bed in and start to dominate in the league. There's no question he is doing it now and, like Robin van Persie with Manchester United last season, he is pushing his team towards a title victory that few would have predicted beforehand.
GMS are not saying that the likes of Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling have not also played an important role, but with 30 goals and 12 assists in 30 matches the Uruguay international is without doubt Brendan Rodgers' most effective player.
Suarez is not the first foreign star to move to the Premier League and excel, many have done so, but he is one of the few that have made the switch and become a talisman for the club they joined, destined to be viewed as a legend by fans in years to come. GMS thought of a few more players that fit the bill, which is not quite so simple as we first thought - these are players that will have few players at their respective clubs viewed with greater affection.
You'll be surprised to hear what we did next...we put them into a sweet little slideshow for you, dear reader, to peruse and abuse. There are 11 names in all that GMS feel have transcended the status of being merely a leading player, but a talent whose success and attributes have been the catalyst for a step-up in quality for the entire team.
We want to hear what you think of the selections, so use the comments section to lodge your praise or criticisms - just keep it clean please.
