It's that exciting time of season again, the time in which dreams are lived and crushed along with pitch invasions, tears and rip-off memorabilia. Don't we all just love it?

With just two games remaining in the Football League, this weekend was always going to be the one where things were settled and, as always, football delivered. All the promotions and relegations are handily compressed here into a guide of all the ups and downs of matchday 45:

Brighton sent Yeovil Town down on Friday night with a 2-0 victory that kept their play-off hopes alive. Despite holding their own for 78 minutes, the Glovers were condemned to a quick return to League One when Kazenga Lua Lua's cross wrong-footed Marek Stech. Jesse Lingard destroyed all hope of a miraculous escape as he scored late on.

Barnsley were relegated from the Championship on Saturday despite taking the lead away to Middlesbrough. The Tykes took the lead from Jean-Yves M'Voto's hooked finish but three second-half goals gave Middlesbrough the victory and sent Danny Wilson's side into League One.

A two-year spell in League One for Shrewsbury Town was ended as they were beaten 4-2 at home to play-off chasing Peterborough. Shrewsbury took the lead but will join already relegated Stevenage in the bottom tier of the Football League next season.

Two goals in the first 16 minutes helped Rochdale to win promotion from League Two. Peter Vicenti and Ian Henderson gave Dale a vital victory that sent them to the top of the league and also guaranteed a game against Barnsley next season.

A 2-0 loss against Exeter took Scunthorpe off top-spot but they still gained promotion due to results elsewhere. The Iron lost their unbeaten run but they will no doubt be celebrating a quick return to League One.

Torquay became the first team this season to be relegated from the Football League despite earning a second consecutive win. The Gulls beat Mansfield 3-1 away from home but wins for Bristol Rovers and Northampton ended a four-year stay in the football league for Chris Hargreaves' side.

Also on Sunday, Chesterfield were promoted to League One after a 2-0 victory over Burton Albion.
