Whether you are a fan of one of Liverpool's rivals or not, we should all be feeling a little bit sorry for Steven Gerrard after his horrendous error against Chelsea at the weekend.
Anfield watched on in a state of shock as the Reds' captain let a simple pass slip under his boot and then slipped as he attempted to recover, leaving Blues striker Demba Ba to run unchallenged at goal and calmly slip the ball under Simon Mignolet to give Jose Mourinho's team a shock lead at half time.
Mourinho's tactics of getting behind the ball had got the ultimate reward and another late breakaway saw the game finish 2-0 when Fernando Torres laid off for Willian to put into an empty net. Gerrard gave everything to try and get his team back into the match but the Chelsea defence was steadfast and the victory now hands the title race initiative back to Manchester City.
Manuel Pellegrini's men won the following match - 2-0 away at Crystal Palace - to take them three points behind Liverpool with a game in hand and a better goal difference by eight. Gerrard's slip could eventually end up handing the Premier League title to the Citizens and it could down as one of the most costly blunders football has ever seen.
Gerrard is not the first, and certainly won't be the last, player to make a howler in a big match and be forced to relive it every time any composition of football howlers gets made or when crucial moments in league seasons are reviewed.
As ever, we have picked out a few other players that have experienced what Gerrard felt and wanted the ground to open up and swallow them. We want to know where you think Gerrard's gaffe ranks with the others and if you can remember any others that we have missed.
