Juan Mata celebrated his 26th birthday with Manchester United teammates David de Gea and Shinji Kagawa.

Former Chelsea midfielder Mata, who moved to Manchester United in January for a club record fee of £37.1million, went out with De Gea and Kagawa to celebrate his birthday in style.

The Spanish playmaker had a fantastic weekend prior to his birthday - despite being dropped by Manchester United's new interim boss Ryan Giggs.

Mata came off the substitutes' bench with 30 minutes to go to score a brace against Premier League relegation candidates Norwich City.

De Gea, who played the full 90 minutes at the weekend, tweeted to send a special birthday message to his Manchester United teammate.

“Happy birthday bro @juanmata8 It’s a pleasure to share the day to day life with you!!” tweeted De Gea.

Manchester United trio Mata, De Gea and Kagawa were probably desperate to let off some steam to celebrate the attacking midfielder's birthday after what proved to be a difficult week for the Premier League champions.

Mata will be particularly disappointed with Moyes' sacking as the Scotsman brought him to Old Trafford.
