Robinson Cano will return to Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night for the first time since leaving New York to join the Seattle Mariners, and it’s fair to say Yankees fans aren’t too happy at the prospect.
Cano had played for the Yankees for eight years until he departed for Seattle; choosing to sign a lucrative contract with the Mariners after becoming a free agent at the end of last season. The 31-year-old signed a 10-year deal worth $240 million. Not bad work if you can get it.
The five-time MLB All-Star once loved by Yankees supporters will be public enemy No.1 when he takes to the field in New York again, and can expected to be heckled for the entirety of the game. It’s something that comes with the territory.
To gauge how angry Yankees fans are with Cano, The Tonight Show took to the streets of New York to ask if he would be getting booed at Yankee Stadium. The answer was resounding ‘yes’, and fans were given a chance to warm themselves up by letting rip at a poster of Cano in his Mariners uniform.
But, little did they know, Cano was hidden behind the poster, and made an appearance to surprise those fans that now despise him. The reactions are priceless - take a look above.
